Defensive Coordinator, Line Backers
Coach Ross has been coaching for 17 years, 2 years at Enumclaw HS, 2 years at CWU and 13 years at Sumner HS with 9 of those years as head coach. He is married to Tracie and has 3 children: Luke (9), Ann Alyse (7), and Eli (3). Coach Ross is a teacher at Sumner HS and his hobbies are faith, family, and reading.

Chad Johnson
Offensive Coordinator, Quarter Backs
Coach Johnson has been coaching for 15 years, 13 years at Sumner HS and 2 years at Mt. View Jr. High as the head coach. He played football in high school and at the University of Puget Sound. He is married to Kate and has 2 boys, Scott (7) and Owen (5). Coach Johnson is a math teacher and enjoys traveling, Cougar Football, all sports and playing with his 2 sons.

Shaun Finnegan
Defensive Line
Coach Finnegan has been coaching for Sumner HS for 4 years. He has coached at the University of Mary in North Dakota. Coach Finnegan played football at Modesto Jr. College, and at University of Mary. Coach Finnegan is married to Dana, and has a new son Rex. He is a PE Teacher at Thomas Jefferson HS. Coach Finnegan enjoys golf and is a sports enthusiast.

Steve Townley
Wide Receivers
Coach Townley is in his 3rd year coaching for Sumner HS. He played at Auburn High School as an outside linebacker, wide receiver, and quarterback. Coach Townley is married to Sarah and has two children, Zachary (4) and Naomi (2). Coach Townley is also a science teacher and track & field coach at Sumner High School, and enjoys golfing and reading.

Stephen Mondragon

Coach Mondragon has been coaching for Sumner HS for 3 years now. Coach Mondragon was born and raised in Los Angeles. He is a teacher at Sumner Middle School where he coaches football and girls basketball. Coach Mondragon wants to thank his wife Kate for her understanding and father in law, Dave for coming and supporting the Spartans.

Brant Grams
Freshmen Coach
This is Coach Grams 3rd year coaching for Sumner HS. He played football for Sumner and was a starting quarterback in 1991 and 1992. He is an Adult Training Specialist at Rainier State School. He is married to his lovely wife Mandy and the father of 3 girls, Jayde (8), Rylee (6), and Tayte (4). Coach Grams enjoys camping, playing softball and basketball.

Coach Isaacs is in his 2nd year coaching for Sumner HS. He played running back and defensive back for the Spartans 88 thru 91. He played football for EWU Eagles 91 thru 93, and CWU Wildcats 93 thru 96. He is married to Angel and they have 2 boys, Steele (3) and Elias (2). Coach Isaacs is a teacher at Sumner Middle School. Mike Ernaga
Running Back
Coach Ernaga is in his 2nd year of coaching for Sumner HS. He recently retired after 35 years of teaching P.E. and Special Education. Thirty-three of those years were also spent coaching high school football. Mike is married to Vicki and has two daughters, Heidi and Anna. He enjoys fishing, cutting firewood and gardening.

Coach Clark has coached football for over thirteen years at multiple levels. He played at Steilacoom High School and college with Keith Ross at Central Washington University. He is married to Mealea with three children, Aaron, Donovan and Maya, and is a resident of the City of Sumner. I coach football as a way to be a positive influence on young men in my community. I learned how to follow and lead through team sports and want to pass along my experiences to the next....
